The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a suspect who fired shots at an active duty soldier during a social gathering at Parkland’s home Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old victim died on the spot because paramedics were unable to bring her back to life, the sheriff’s office said in a written statement, according to Como-TV. The man was stationed at Joint Base Lewis McCord.

On Sunday, JBLM identified him as a U.S. Army sergeant. Emmett Leviticus Moore, from East Point, Georgia. He says he was a member of the 1-14 Cavalry Squadron, 1-2 Striker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Inf. Department, at JBLM.

Delegates were called to a home in the 1600 block of 112th Street S shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the statement.

When they arrived, they found the victim in the house with gunshot wounds, officials said. People’s representatives searched but did not find the suspect who shot the man, officials said.
