The Country Club in Brooklyn, Massachusetts will host the 122nd US Open, which begins on Thursday and ends on Sunday. This is the fourth time Major has hosted one of the oldest golf courses in the US

There are 156 players at the US Open field, including those who have topped the official world golf rankings and other recent major winners and top-10 finishers. Tiger Woods, who played at the US Open, said, “We need more time to strengthen our body for major championship golf.”

Jon Rahm won the tournament last year in Torrey Pines, San Diego, becoming the first US Open champion from Spain. Current champion Brooks will attempt to become the eighth golfer to win back-to-back US Open titles at the 2017 and 2018 US Open titles last held by Koyepka. Rory McIlroy, the betting favorite to win in Brooklyn, won in 2011.

Phil Mickelson, other LIV golfers playing at the US Open

Much of the talk of entering the tournament revolves around the entrance to Phil Mickelson, who, along with several other PGA Tour golfers, has been playing in the controversial Saudi-funded LIV Golf Invitational Series.

“As a golfer, I have a lot of respect for Phil,” McIlroy said Tuesday during a US Open media availability. “I’m disappointed with how he went about what he did. But I think he came back and showed some remorse for how he handled some things, so I think he learned from that.

“Am I frustrated with the path he has taken? I. But I still have a lot of respect for him. ”

Players participating in the LIV have been suspended for a long time by the PGA Tour but have no jurisdiction over the US Open.

Along with Michelson, golfers from LIV on the field this week are: 2016 Champion Dustin Johnson, 2020 Champion Bryson, Bryson Dichambue, Sergio Garcia, Kevin Na, Louis Ostuygen, James Piot, Sam Horsefield, Shaun Norris, Richard,
