He is the second player to win the Men’s US Open and Men’s Amateur on the same stage. Jack Nicklaus is the only golfer to achieve this feat.
Jalatoris, who competed for the lead with Fitzpatrick and Sheffler all day, is likely to be sent to the playoffs with the final put. He narrowly missed it and finished 5-under par for the tournament.
Scheffler, the No. 1 ranking golfer in the world, continued the pace with Fitzpatrick and Zalatoris. He went into the clubhouse with a 5-under par for the tournament. He had a final round 67.
It came to an end between Fitzpatrick and Zalatoris. After boogie on the 10th and 11th and saved evenly on the 12th, Fitzpatrick nailed a 48-foot putty for Birdie in the 13th hole. A big birdie putt at 15 gave him a two-shot lead over Zalatoris and Scheffler.
Jalatoris is likely to return but dropped on the 17th. Things opened up for Zalatoris on the 18th after Fitzpatrick hit his tee shot into the bunker. But the clutch pulled out of the bunker brought the Fitzpatrick back into the green and he saved evenly.
Hideki Matsuyama was in conflict with the leaders at the end of his round. He scored 65 in the final round and went to the clubhouse in the 3-under par. Collin Morikawa was also in the range with a final round 66. He was the 2-under par in the tournament.

Matsuyama won the Masters in 2021 and Morikawa won the Open Championship in 2021 and the PGA Championship in 2020.
Rory McIlroy finished 69 in the final round of the 2-Under Par Four in the tournament. He had hoped that RBC would win the Canadian Open last week and enter the US Open, but could not catch the leaders on the final day.
Defending champion Jon Rahm ended the 1-over draw.
As soon as May began Fitzpatrick became hot.
He finished second at the Wells Fargo Championship with Cameron Young and Keegan Bradley. He took that momentum into the PGA Championship, finishing with two strokes behind Justin Thomas and Zalatoris.
Although he lost the cut at Memorial, he bounced back in the RBC Championship with a top-10 finish and it ended in his first major championship at the US Open.
