Defending US Open champion Joan Rahm had a strange moment in the first round of this year’s third major tournament.

Rahm was in hole 18 on Thursday when his tee shot went to the left and hit the broadcast tent. He said he saw two kids stealing his golf ball after a wrong shot.

“I’m pretty sure he knows who I am. I spotted two kids running across the street with smiles on their faces. I saw two kids stealing, I’m 100% sure,” Rahm said. Via PGATour.com. “I’m so glad someone spotted the ball first.”

Rahm saved the 1-under 69 anyway, sending Day 1 leader Adam Hodwin back three strokes. He had four birdies and three bogies when he was surrounded.
