- Advertisment -

(CNN)A Los Angeles jury has found comedian Bill Cosby responsible for a civil lawsuit filed by Judy Hooth, who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager in the 1970s.

A jury of eight women and four men awarded Huth 500,000. No punitive compensation was paid.
Hooth first filed a lawsuit in 2014, alleging sexual harassment and intentional and reckless emotional harassment. The original filing states that the incident occurred in 1974 when Hooth was 15 years old, but the timeline was later revised in 1975, when Hooth was 16 years old.

Through his lawyers, Cosby, 84, has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
In her complaint, Hooth said she met Cosby in a park where he was filming a movie. After befriending Hooth and a friend, Cosby allegedly invited him to join his tennis club. From there, Hooth alleged, the comedian invited them to a house where he gave the young women several alcoholic beverages and then took them to the Playboy Mansion.
Hooth alleged that although Cosby knew his age and the age of his girlfriend, he instructed the teens that “if any of the Playboy bunnies asked their age, they should tell them it was 19.”
Hath further claimed that Cosby took her to a bedroom in the mansion where he sexually assaulted her.
CNN has contacted Cosby’s lawyers for comment on the verdict.
Hooth was smiling when she spoke briefly to reporters outside the Santa Monica courthouse.
“I am just happy to be free,” she said. “It’s been so many years, so many tears.”
“This case proves you can run, but you can’t hide,” said Nathan Goldberg, Hooth’s attorney.
The audience joked loudly as Cosby’s spokesmen and lawyers made statements to the media.
“What happened today was not a victory, because they didn’t get punitive damages,” said Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt. “Cosby is happy with the outcome.”
Cosby was not present for the trial or verdict and his team plans to file an appeal.
Since 2005, more than 50 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual harassment. After Convicted Cosby was sentenced to less than three years in a Pennsylvania state prison before being convicted of assaulting Andrea Constant in Philadelphia. Reversed On appeal.
