The RCMP says officers came under fire in La Ronge, Sask state on Sunday, and mountain dwellers urged residents to take cover in place until two suspects are found.

Officers are responding to the incident and residents should expect increased police presence in the area, Mounties said in a press release.

Police are asking residents to immediately seek shelter or shelter in place until told otherwise. They also urge people to close and lock all windows and doors.

Motorists are advised not to stop because of hitchhikers, and the RCMP has asked people to refrain from disclosing police whereabouts on social media.

In a press release, police described one suspect as a man with short dark hair shaved down the sides, dark trousers and a dark shirt with gold patterns on the sleeves, and dark running shoes.

He was last seen on foot in the Far Reserve Road area in the village of Air Ronge, and the suspect may have been seen walking north on Highway 2, the RCMP said.

The RCMP said they did not have a description of the second suspect. However, according to them, the suspect is believed to be at “house 136” on Far Reserve Road in Air Ronge.

Anyone with an emergency or advice regarding this event is asked to call 911.
