(CNN)Actress Rachel Brosnahan has expressed her grief over the mass shooting Highland ParkIllinois Monday in which at least six people died and dozens more were injured.
Brosnahan, who grew up in a Chicago suburb, said in a statement that the news of the tragedy made her feel “sick.”
“I grew up in Highland Park and this parade is a special attraction for many families throughout the year,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Mesel” star Wrote in a tweet. “Every time such news comes I have a stomach ache, but I don’t want to have a stomach ache because you call your family and friends to make sure everyone is fine with anyone. There are no words.”
She shared a link from Everytown for Gun Safety Subsequent tweets, Writing “Enough is enough is enough is enough is enough is enough is enough is enough.”
Singer Richard Marks, who grew up in Highland Park, described it as “heartbreaking.”
“I’m actively reaching out to check on the well-being of people I still know there,” Marx wrote in a tweet. “My heart is always broken because of this constant mass shooting. No matter where it happens, I’m more heartbroken today. And there’s more anger of stupidity.”
Director and actor Ken Olin, who starred in the TV drama “Thirty Something”, also tweeted about the tragedy.
“My hometown. I went to this parade every year as a kid,” Olin said Tweeted. “My heart breaks for all the children in our country who would be afraid to celebrate with happy people.”
