Pope Francis intends to appoint women to the Decathlon for Bishops – an institutional body recommending priests and bishops for promotion in the Catholic Church.

Pope Francis has made it clear that because of the theology of the church, women cannot and will never be able to serve as pastors, he has taken a number of important steps to bring a feminist approach to the Vatican.

The Decree of Bishops, also known as the Congregation of Bishops, is the pope’s immediate advisory council to evaluate the performance of pastors. The decree offers the bishop’s report and assessment before the final decision is referred to the pope.

“For the first time, two women will be appointed to the bishop’s selection committee,” Pope Francis said. Told Reuters In a July 2 interview.

“I am ready to give (women) a chance,” the holy father said at one point. “This way, things are opening up a bit.”

The move was expected for some time – Francis has already appointed women to several non-clerical positions in the Vatican. Last year, Pontiff recognized Xavier Nunn, Sr. Nathalie Beckett, as Under-Secretary for Bishop’s Synod’s General Secretariat.

However, the pope did not waver an inch on female priests, sometimes directly opposing activists pushing for the anointing of women.

According to Catholic teaching, priests and bishops are expected to act on behalf of Jesus, who is a man. They are considered to be the successors of the original twelve apostles, all of whom were appointed by Jesus and were also men.

In 2019, Pope Francis told the International Union of Superior Generals of Women: […] Which replaces revelation and fanatical expression. “

“We are Catholics, but if any of you want to find another church, you are free to go,” the pope concluded.

The Bishop of Rome, after months of health problems and relative inactivity, has made frequent headlines in the wake of the seemingly renewed renewal through interviews and public appearances over the past week.

Pope Francis criticized the “ideological exploitation” of the Catholic Church in an interview with the News Authority of his country of birth.

Pope Francis made the remarks in an interview with Argentina’s national news agency on Friday. Questions and Discussions Pope Francis’ native language was Spanish.

The pope distinguished between the South American church’s closeness to the people and the church’s political corruption.

“When people could not express themselves, they changed and they became the church of trail bosses with the orders of peasant agents,” the pope explained. “People began to express themselves more and more about their religion and they became the protagonists of their own story.”
