On January 6, House House leaders said they planned to invite Ginny Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, to speak to the committee. The Washington Post The committee has evidence that Thomas interacted with attorney John Eastman.

Eastman was at the center of a pressure campaign against then-Vice President Pence to reject the election results when Congress called on Jan. 6 to count Electoral College votes, with committee chairman Benny Thompson, D-Miss. And Vice President Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., Say. Thompson told reporters on Capitol Hill and Cheney’s view was confirmed by an aide to NPR’s Dairy Walsh.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Ginny Thomas was previously revealed to have been in contact with Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows via text message between the election and January 6. At the time of the revelations, Thompson had said he would recommend to the committee that Thomas attend. To them, but not requested. Some members of the committee said Thomas did not play a key role before Jan. 6 when the latest report came out Wednesday night.

The Supreme Court rejected an 11th-hour attempt by Trump’s allies during a legal battle over election results, during which dozens of lower court cases were decided against Trump. However, Justice Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito disagreed. Thomas was the only dissenter when the Supreme Court ruled against Trump for trying to keep White House records safe from the Jan. 6 committee inquiry.
