The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced Friday that a 30-year-old “baby doe” has been arrested in connection with the 1993 murder of a baby.

Mayonna Michelle Allen, 53, turned herself in to a special agent at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation on Friday in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Allen had an outstanding warrant for a count of intentional first degree murder.

A special agent working on the Baby Doe case began working with the Cold Case Unit, which included a criminologist at the agency’s Forensic Science Center, and presented the baby’s DNA sample to Parabon Nanolabs in Reston, Virginia.

In June, more DNA tests resulted in Allen being identified as the mother of a stillborn baby. In a follow-up interview with law enforcement officials, Allen confessed to being the baby’s mother.

During a special agent interview on June 15, Allen presented DNA samples for testing “to determine if she was Baby Dochi’s biological mother.”

Shortly after submitting her DNA, Allen confessed to being the biological mother of “Baby Doe” and “cut the baby’s throat immediately after his birth,” according to the agency.

Ricky Adams, director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said the baby’s killer could now be held accountable.

“The coordination between our agents and the criminals in resolving the cold cases, especially the unidentified victim, is commendable,” Adams said. “Identifying the use of genetic pedigree as a tool and the work of Parabon and our internal pedigree expert provided important leads in this troubling case. Baby Dola can now be properly rested and his killer will be held accountable.”

According to the agency, “Baby Doe” was found dead on December 8, 1993, with a dead child in their front yard. After the autopsy, medical examiners determined that the baby had been born alive and that “he had died by cutting his throat.”

According to the law enforcement agency, Allen worked in daycare and allegedly did not tell other people she was pregnant.
