A Maryland mayor who resigned his office in January after posting dirty photos of an ex-girlfriend online will pay $5,000 in fines and $750 to his victim, but will not serve time in prison.

Cambridge mayor Andrew Bradshaw pleaded guilty to five counts of distributing revenge porn online, which carries a maximum two-year sentence per count. He was also sentenced to three years’ supervised probation.

The unidentified victim told authorities in May that photos she’d sent exclusively to Bradford—with whom she was in an intimate relationship—had been shared on the Reddit web platform. Investigators discovered that at least 10 images of the woman had been posted online. Prosecutors said they were accompanied by language meant to degrade and humiliate.

Bradshaw, who at 32 was the youngest Cambridge mayor of record, confessed to sharing the photos. According to the Baltimore Sun, the Republican politician pretended to be his former lover online when he posted images of her to Reddit. City commissioners began taking measures to remove Bradshaw from office in December, but less than a month later, he aside voluntarily stepped forward, the city’s Facebook page said.

Maryland State Prosecutor Charlton T. Howard III called Bradshaw’s actions “especially egregious” because they’d been committed “by an individual holding a public leadership role of power and authority.”

Bradshaw was elected to office in December 2020 after defeating incumbent Victoria Jackson-Stanley in a run-off election. Local station WMDT reported that Bradshaw campaigned on a platform that included building transparency between political leaders and their constituents. He served as a volunteer fire fighter during that campaign.
