‘I’re yours’:USGA’s Mike Vaughan responds to social media criticism of US Open TV coverage on NBC
Coverage reached a new low in the final round on Sunday when they showed the leaderboard when Will Zalatoris hit the shot:
Wrong with that? Scotty Scheffler topped the NBC broadcast with the yet-to-be-seen Birdie. Moments later NBC went to Scheffler’s birdie putt, but we all know what’s going on. It’s just like Nick Faldo did in the Masters, it’s even scarier.
This is the US Open, NBC. These kinds of things cannot happen. How did you first show Sheffler’s putt? How do you allow yourself to change the leaderboard to ruin this moment for us viewers? How do you keep up the horror of such a meaningful event?
It should not be difficult – show golf shots. All golf shots. As they happen.
It’s been brutal so far and this mistake is embarrassing with Scheffler’s put.
Twitter agreed.
