Matt Fitzpatrick became the first major champion of his career after winning the thrilling US Open with a stroke at The Country Club in Brooklyn, Massachusetts.
It was a fantastic week at the legendary stage and ended on the 18th with Fitzpatrick receiving the biggest hit of his life for one of the best shots of his life from the Fairway Bunker.
After that Annie came to 18th Green. Fitzpatrick was able to tap evenly and Will Zalatoris just missed the birdie putt sent to the playoffs.
Moments after the win, Fitzpatrick Cady, Billy Foster, was seen kissing the flag over the 18th hole. It’s a special moment for someone who has been in professional golf for 40 years, but has never won big.
You can tell how much this made sense to him:
Very good.
