Malaysia and other Muslim countries have banned “light-year” play in theaters after Disney refused to cut a gay kissing scene from an animated film.

The Malaysian Film Censorship Board said it had approved the film with parental guidance for those under 13 on the terms of the amendment. It was ordered to “cut and mute” scenes and dialogues that were found to contain “elements that promote the LGBT lifestyle, violating key elements of the guidelines on film censorship”.

“However, the film distributors did not agree to follow the instructions” and decided to cancel the screening, saying the board would not compromise on any LGBTQ scenes.

The statement did not specify which scenes violated the censorship guidelines.

In an interview with Reuters television, Evans said, “The real truth is that people are idiots.
