Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabers co-owner Kim Pegula was hospitalized in Florida on Tuesday, describing her family as having “some unexpected health problems”.

The family did not say exactly what Pegula was dealing with but praised the medical team around her.

“Kim Pegula is receiving medical care as a result of some unexpected health issues. We are very grateful for the progress she has made over the past few days,” family members said. “She has an extraordinary team of medical professionals.

“We want you to keep Kim and our family in your prayers, and we want you to respect our privacy requirement.”

Bills head coach Sean McDermott also asked that prayers be made for the Pegula family at the start of the mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

“We love them and most of all, we want to be there for them right now,” McDermott said. “If you look at what they did for western New York, what they did for this company, what they did for the multiple companies and companies they own here, and personally, what they did for me. Kim and her husband, Terry Pegula, bought Sabers in February 2011 and Bills in 2014. Kim Pegula was born in Seoul and later adopted by an American family, one of the few minority sports team owners.
