At least 16 cows are said to have briefly escaped from a cattle truck involved in a crash around 50 miles southwest of Chicago.
WGN reports that truck – whose driver was charged with DUI – collided with two vehicles around 3:40 pm Tuesday in Joliet, Ill.
The driver, 51-year-old Bradley Pate, was reportedly transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. ABC News reported that four cows were killed.
The truck was badly damaged. A WGN chopper photographed the bovine roaming about Interstate 80.
Will County Animal Control worked with law enforcement to corral the stray cattle. Local farmers on horseback also aided in the round up, according to ABC News.
