Kyrie Irving’s name was mentioned in Thursday’s trade rumors and his time with the Brooklyn Nets ends with the launch of a free agency.
The Nets star, who signed with the team before the start of the 2019-20 season, has a $ 36.5 million player option he can choose to facilitate business.
He may choose to test a free agency hoping for the maximum deal but getting more money in the open market is not guaranteed.
Until June 29 he can decide whether to pick a deal.

Irving, he and Nets have drawn up a list of teams he would like to trade considering sign-and-trade if they can not dismiss the extension, ESPN reports.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76 yrs are reportedly on the list.
According to the report, Nets and Irving can only discuss the possibility of entering into the final year of his current contract and the free agency will not be able to talk about a new contract until June 30.
Kairi Irving sent a cryptic tweet following the report of the extension talks with the Nets
Whatever Irving and the Nets decide to do will affect Kevin Durant.
Irving and Durant arrived in Brooklyn together in 2019. And when he was away from the Point Guard team in 2021, Durant was his biggest defender. Athletics Shams Charania said in a stadium broadcast that Durant was “seriously considering his future options with the Nets” and “monitoring the situation”.
He said there was “expectation” that Irving would soon continue to “find a new home through opt-in and trade.”
Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks said last month that talks were ongoing about the Irving deal, but that he was not committed to Point Guard’s future with the franchise.
“So he’s going to see what he’s going to do with his player choice and something like that,” Marx said. “I think we know what we’re looking for. We’re looking for guys who want to come here and be a part of something bigger than themselves. Play selflessly, play team basketball and be available… and it’s not just for Kairi but for everyone here.”
