Two Alabama sheriff’s representatives were shot Wednesday while trying to chase a suspect, which is the subject of a “massive” search, according to media reports.
The Bib County Sheriff’s Deputy was pursuing the suspect, who was in the stolen vehicle at the time, Bib County District Attorney Michael Jackson told WBRC-TV, affiliated with Fox in Birmingham.
The shooting took place around 5 pm and the search for the suspect is underway. The alert identified him as 26-year-old Austin Patrick Hall.
“Officers have gathered in the area and the suspect is reported to have left his vehicle and fled on foot,” the city of Centerville posted on Facebook.

Authorities did not disclose the severity of the deputies’ injuries or their names. Residents in nearby Brierfield, Golfers Trail, and some roadside residents were urged to search for “armed and dangerous suspects.”
Authorities are telling residents to stay inside and lock all doors.
A prayer vigil was held at Bib County Courthouse Square in Centerville.
