The King County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday identified the man who was shot and killed by Kent police.
Viet Do Nguyen, 27, died of multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Seattle Times reported. Murder means the death of another person or people.
Kent police say the shooting happened after police responded to a car call parked on Pacific Highway South Monday morning. The caller said the driver of the parked car appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Shortly after police arrived, an officer said on police radio, “The man has a gun,” according to police.
A few minutes later, an officer said shots were fired, Kent police said. Nguyen died on the spot. Nguyen’s last known address was in West Seattle.
Investigators have not released additional information about the shooting, which is being investigated by the Valley Independent Investigation Team.
